II Timothy 3:14 - 4:5

This week, I am preaching a sermon that will also be shared with the congregation of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Salem, Oregon, where the Rev. Kelly Wadsworth is being installed as pastor on May 16. My Scripture will be II Timothy 3:14 - 4:5.

II Timothy is brief, and worth reading in its entirety. It is a poignant last letter from Paul to his beloved protege and friend.

II Timothy 3:16 provides a one-sentence summary of what Scripture is and what is offers. Does this accord with your understanding? Why or why not?

What would you say is “sound doctrine” (II Timothy 4:3)? Make a list of “the basics” of what you believe. Where would you turn to see if these accord with “sound doctrine”?
