The Resurrection of the Body

I Corinthians 15:1-11

This Sunday and next, we read from I Corinthians 15. This Sunday, our selection is I Corinthians 15:1-11. Paul turns, in this chapter, to the resurrection of the body. What a big topic! It is helpful to read all of I Corinthians 15 in order to follow Paul’s understanding.

I Corinthians 15:3-4 is thought to be a creed — a statement of faith — that Paul is quoting. What do you believe about its claims?

In I Corinthians 15:5-10, Paul locates himself among the apostles, and alternates between saying he is not worthy of this title, and is the hardest-working of them all. Why do you think he swings to such extremes?

The good news of the Gospel is that, in Christ, we do not have to earn salvation. Rather, God simply gives us salvation out of God’s love for us. Think about your life. How is it different to try to do good in hopes of winning God’s favor, versus trying to do good because God has been unbelievably good to you?
