Luke 10:25-37
This week we come to the familiar story known as The Good Samaritan. I cannot help but think of those stickers, often placed on motor homes and other RVs, that say Good Sam Club. They depict Sam as a smiling white guy with a halo over his head.
But is this the point of the story in Luke 10:25-37? Am I hearing Jesus’ point when I pass along a free quart of oil to someone out on the freeway?
To begin this week, read up on Samaritans, and who they were in the Gospels.
Second, ask yourself, “Who are my “Samaritans” — people who set my teeth on edge, whose religious convictions offend my own.
Now, ask yourself: “What does it mean that Jesus makes a Samaritan the hero of this story?"
