Mark 1:4-11

This Sunday is Baptism of the Lord Sunday. We will be celebrating the Rite of Reaffirmation of Baptism. Our Gospel reading is Mark 1:4-11.

 This is a good passage to read in the lectio divina mode:

Read Mark 1:4-11. As you read, take note of any words or images that inspire you, ignite your imagination, challenge you, or otherwise stand out. Write these responses down.

Read Mark 1:4-11 a second time. This time, continue to take note of what struck you the first time through, asking God to illuminate its meaning for you.

Read Mark 1:4-11 a third time. Before you read, pray: “Speak, Lord, thy servant is listening.” Be ready to hear this as God’s Word to you, offering meaning and guidance for your life.

 Pray to God for faith to follow what you hear into your daily life.
