Psalm Ps. 112:1-9 / Matthew 5:13-20

OK, I lied. I am not just preaching on Psalms during the season after Epiphany. This Sunday and next I will continue to preach from Matthew 5.

So, a great thing to do is to read all of Matthew 5-7. These three chapters comprise what is known as The Sermon on the Mount. Last week, we read The Beatitudes from Matthew 5:1-12.

This week, we read Matthew 5:13-20. These verses tell us who we are in Christ: light, servants, and recipients of God’s Law by grace.

As with last week, pay close attention to verb tenses, and to what Jesus says about what happens to the Law of Moses through him.
