Psalm 34:1-10 / Luke. 24:13-35

Luke’s Gospel does not end with the Resurrection itself. The story goes on to describe several post-Resurrection encounters between the risen Christ and his disciples. Our reading is Luke 24:13-35.

Read the entire chapter 24 of Luke’s Gospel in order better to understand the scene in 13-35.

As a devotional exercise, try describing the emotional, spiritual, and perhaps even physical state of the two disciples who were walking to Emmaus.

Why do you suppose “their eyes were kept from recognizing [Jesus]”? (Luke 35:16)

What does it mean to you that, in a description that sounds like Holy Communion, “their eyes were opened and they recognized him” (Luke 24:31) when Jesus “took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them” (Luke 24:30)?
